FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!

Last night was the Cheap Trick, Heart & Journey Concert.  IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!  De and I started the night off at Dick's Last Resort.  This is a funny restaurant....not necessarily for the family!  Their motto is "The best food with the crappiest service."  The waiters/waitresses are rude--it is funny.  Then they make hats with rude comments about the person written on them and the put them on your head.  The fun is reading all of the hats in the place!!!

So, we finally make it to the concert (late, thanks to traffic--but the ride there was fun!!).  We missed most of Cheap Trick, which is ok.  Heart came out and they were phenomenal!!!!!  I can't believe that Ann Wilson can still belt out those songs after all these years.  Then to see Nancy Wilson doing high kicks and jumping around--WOW!!!!

THEN Journey came out!!!  Man, they were AWESOME!!!  This new singer is GREAT!!!  He is the real deal!!!  We were up during Journey's set dancing and singing!!!!   What fun!!!!

Here are a couple of pictures of me and De at Dick's with our hats on and then at the concert.

The countdown has started

August 20th!! That is the date Matt will be moving to Waco to go to school. He will be attending McLennan Jr. College. He will be living in an apartment with two of his friends. The apartment is kind of cool.....three bedrooms with three baths, fully furnished with a full-size bed and desk in the bedrooms, couch, end tables, lamps, kitchen table and a fully-furnished kitchen with full-size washer and dryer! No bringing home clothes on the weekend for mom to wash!!!

The girls have already decided that they will be taking over his room and if he needs a place to sleep, it can be on the floor in the computer room!! I think Lauren will be moving to Matt's room, but we'll see. Megan doesn't like sleeping in her room alone.

Keep Matt (and us) in your prayers as he ventures out of our nest to the big world. Also, any contribution to the expenses jar is always welcome!!!!

It's not Baseball, but it'll do!! & Homerun Derby!!!

Matt is playing softball with a group of guys from school. I finally got to see him in action. He is playing Right Field and doing a great job (of course)!! They won their game tonight 9-6.

So, if you are a baseball fan, you know that tonight is the Homerun Derby at the All-Star Game in NYC. Go Josh Hamilton!!!!! Can you believe he hit 28 homeruns in the FIRST ROUND!!! He sent one over the WALL--out of the park!!! Over 520 feet!!! Amazing. If you don't know Josh's story, it is very inspiring. He was picked in the 1st round, got out of baseball for 3 years because of a drug and alcohol addiction. He cleaned up, and got back in baseball, was traded to Texas and is now in the running for the American League MVP!!! He chose his 71 year-old pitching coach from when we was a little boy playing in the American Legion to pitch to him. This man, threw 56 pitches!! Go Josh! Go Texas Rangers!! Go American League!!!

Airhogs Baseball

The company I work for was giving away 4 tickets to the Airhogs Baseball for Military Appreciation Night.  Me, Mike, Megan and our friend, David Fry (who's in town for training from Germany) went out to the game.  Our seats were behind home plate.  It was a really nice park....there is actually a swimming pool in the outfield bleachers.  There was a QT taquito, hotdog & egg roll racing for certain sections.  Our section was represented by the egg roll and it won!!  So, we won a free item from the Quick Trip.

Happy 4th of July!!!

We have started our day off with the annual trip to the Duncanville 4th of July Parade. It was great!! Lauren and Megan rode with the volleyball float. It was really exciting to see the AAFES 18-wheeler pulling up at the end of the parade!!! So far, it's been great! We're going to the Bracks for BBQ and swimming a little later. I've got to get busy and make potato salad & nanner puddin'!!

Have a Great 4th!!!

The senior babes!!! Lauren's last parade as a volleyball player!!!
You can see Meg cheesin' in the background!

RIP Jake

Tomorrow when Megan gets home from camp, we have to tell her that her kitten was killed.  He was hit by a car.  My heart is breaking just thinking of how she is going to react and feel when she finds out.   She considered Jake HER BABY.  She carries them around, loves and kisses them.  This is going to tear her apart.  So, if you read this and see Megan tomorrow night, please do not say anything.  We're not saying anything until we get home.

Megan was only 3 when our dog, Spooker, died.  She says she remembers her and misses her, but I think this is going to be 10 times worse for her.

Say a little prayer for my little girl, her heart is going to be broken tomorrow night.
