Me and my dad

I have been scanning photos from mom and dad's photo albums. I ran across a few that made me laugh--you know, the ones with the funny glasses, funny BIG hair and funny clothes!!! But I did find some of me and dad, one when I was little, one from my wedding and one take about a month before he died.

Our weekend in a nutshell

IZZYs home!!!! They got to bring her home this afternoon!!! Now the fun begins. The picture is courtesy of my mom. I"ll be over there next weekend and, boy oh boy, I can't wait to get ahold of her!!!

DHS was victorious over Cedar Hill!!!!! We beat them in three games!!! So, we are 4-3 in district play at the end of the 1st half of the season. If they can continue improving, they will be in the playoffs!!!

Megan gets to go on the court during warm ups to shag balls. I caught her busting a move while the music was playing!!!

We spent about 5 hours making three football mums!!! From left to right: Taylor's, Megan's & Lauren's. I burned my hand a few times, but NO BLISTERS!!!!! This is a first for me!!!

It's quiet here now. Tay and Lauren are at the movies and Megan is at a birthday party. I've cleaned up the fur, feathers, ribbon pieces & glue gun strings. Matt is working. He's been there since 7:30 this morning.

Have a great week!!

TGIF!!!!

I'm so glad it's Friday!!! Not that we're that busy; but with the cooler weather, comes the fungus and ragweed!!! We've all been sneezing, coughing and just plain tired from it all!!

I did hear that Izzie, my niece, has been eating, so she might get to come home this weekend!!!! I know my sister can't wait for her to come home. She went to the hospital today with the car seat, just hoping that maybe, she can take her home. The one problem is with her being a preemie, being held all the time stresses and tires her out. So, how do you keep big sisters and brother from constantly picking her up and trying to get to her??? That is something Cara is going to have to work on so Izzie will continue to stay rested and eat and grow!!!

Next week is homecoming, so we're making mums this weekend. I cannot believe this is Lauren's junior year......only one more mum!!!! The horticulture teacher here has always given me some supplies and makes sure I get things for Megan, too. So, even though she can't wear hers to school, she's getting a mum to wear to the game. Lauren has a friend spending the weekend with us, and we're making hers too. Any bets on how many blisters I'm going to get from the hot glue gun??? I always get at least one!!!

Tonight there is a volleyball game against Cedar Hill!!! If we can beat them, we will be in a good position for securing a playoff spot. Granted the season is only 1/2 over and anything can happen, but we're hoping for the best!!! I'm sure I'll have pictures tonight and will be updating after tonight's game.

Kitten, Cousins & Volleyball

Megan took Itchi out yesterday and helped her into a tree. Well, it took forever to get her down, she would get so far and get scared and go back up. We finally got her down, but it was CRAZY!!! Itchi also lost a tooth yesterday. Megan has saved it and was going to put it under a pillow for the tooth fairy. Itchi wasn't getting money, just a kitty treat!

Cousin Catarina & Aunt Cheryl came to the game tonight. Catarina had fun running around with MiMi.

Lauren got some playing time on the back row tonight and did a good job. She served the winning point to end the game! The team is now 3-3 in district play. If they keep it up, they will make it to the playoffs!!! YEAH, BABY!!!

Catarina with LaLa after the game. Catarina tried to scare LaLa as she was walking up the stairs.

I MISS Baseball!!!!

Usually we are gone on weekends watching Matt play. He is out with tendonitis in his shoulder and elbow. IF he goes to therapy, he should be able to pitch again. He's in college now and things are a little different, We aren't sure if he even wants to play anymore. I really miss watching him on the field. He was at ease and in command of the field. At least I have all the pictures I took over the last 4 seasons at DHS. I know he thought I was dumb for taking them, but I don't care and he will enjoy them some day!!!
Have a great week!

My Girls

Lauren is having a blast on Varsity this year. She's not playing all the time, but when she gets in, she does her job. They are counting on her as a power server. In previous years, it's been hit and miss with her serves. But you can see she has worked hard and has fine-tuned her target serving! She is a junior this year and having a blast! Homecoming is coming in a couple of weeks, so she's got all the stuff and we're putting her mum together next weekend.

Megan LOVES this cat!! She always refers to herself as Mommy when talking to Itchi. She is not playing sports right now, but I've signed her up to play volleyball at the YMCA in October. She is so excited. When she puts her knee pads on and lets then sit around her ankles (like the big girls) they look almost like shin guards! She is busy with choir practice. She made the all-city choir and will be performing in concert on November 17th. She's a 4th grader this year and loving the fact that this is her last year at elementary school!!

Meet my Fur babies

This is Avalanche. She's an American Eskimo/Chihuahua mix. She is 6 years old now. Don't let her size full you, she is really fast and can jump!!!

This is Tink. He's in his favorite spot...someone's lap being petted and loved. He is a very mild-mannered cat who lives outside most of the year, but ventures in when its raining or too cold. We got Tink and Avalanche at the same time. They were best buddies until Matt brought Rusty home. Tink is short for Tinkerbell. When we got him, the shelter told us he was a she, so Megan named him Tinkerbell. After our 2nd trip to the vet is when we found out he was actually a Peter Pan!! So, we just shortened his name to Tink!

This is Rusty. Matt rescued her off the deer lease in Ranger. We have no clue what breed she is. She's about 3 years old now. Rusty was just a little to hyper for Tink, so, he took off and started roaming the neighboorhood and comes home at night. Rusty is the mischevious one!

And finally, this is Itchi. or Itchi Susanne as Megan named her. Megan rescued her from the abandoned house next door. I told her to take her back, but Itchi followed Megan home. Megan begged daddy to keep her, and of course, he can't tell his girls no, so, we have another cat!!! Because of her size, she is still in the house (actually, the garage). She getting big enough to climb the curtains, jump on the doll case and knock down my pictures, so she gets to live in the garage while we're not home until she gets big enough to go outside. Megan carries this cat around like a baby. She dresses it up and we find them both asleep in Megan's bed at night! It is really a site to see!

We got word about a basset hound looking for a good home this week. We seriously tossed the idea around, but I think we're going to pass this time.

It's been 20 Days

It's been 20 days since dad passed away. I'm still receiving cards from friends and family. I'm making it one day at a time. The best way for me to keep going is to remember dad is 100% pain free!!! I find myself wanting to call him after Lauren's games to tell him how she did, but then....I remember. The pictures posted above are from the grave-side service. Dad was a Vietnam War Vet. and had a military brigade at the grave side. There was a bugeler who did an awesome job. Hopefully, the military won't take too long getting the headstone.

One thing that is kind of therapeutic is I have been scanning photos from mom and dad's photo albums. Cheryl and Cara and I don't have too many photos from our childhood, so this way we get to have all of them. I'm going to burn them on a CD for us to keep.

I have a new niece!!!

Her name is Isabella Grace. Her parents call her Bella, but Auntie Chelley calls her Izzy!!! She is 1 week old now. These pictures were taken when she was 1 day old. They have removed the breathing thingy from her nose and all she has to do is eat, swallow and breathe on her own before she can go home. She was born 6 weeks early, so she has a little maturing to do. I can't wait to get my hands on her. You can't see it because of the cap, but she has lots of dark wavy hair!! She has her sister Alexa's turned up nose. Stay tuned, I'm sure there will be plenty more posts updating you on her!

Later,

Chelley
